DHCP Policies


Windows Server 2012 introduced DHCP policies to allow more control over the settings assigned to a client. The following table shows the conditions that can be configured in a DHCP policy.

Uses the MAC address of the DHCP requesting client
Vendor Class
Vendor classes are configured on the protocol node (IPv4 or IPv6)
User Class
User classes are configured on the protocol node (IPv4 or IPv6)
Client Identifier
Hex-based client identifier
Fully Qualified Domain Name
Introduced with Windows 2012 R2
Relay Agent Information
A relay agent can insert information, such as the client’s network ID, into a DHCP request. Also known as option 082.
